At first thought the idea of spending a week training three hours a day might seem just a bit much. The pleasant surroundings, good company and holiday atmosphere really help you relax into it, though, and before long you find yourself finding three hours not quite enough. As I found last year, I came back reinvigorated from a break from the office doing something more productive than laying on a beach getting sunburnt.

Three valuable lessons I learned this year:

1. Boot-to-the-head
2. Fingers are less robust than wooden benches
3. Palinka is evil

I may have learned #3 last year, too, come to think of it... %-P

I'd been doing kickboxing for 9 months and as I got very much into it I decided to attend Summer Camp. It was a good idea. The training helped me improve some of my techniques faster then I would have done in training as there's a lot of hours of practice and also as there were 4 instructors in a group of only 10 people and mistakes don't go unnoticed. Training for 5 days in a small group is fun but more intense so of course I found it physically more demanding and came back a little on the tired side. Summer Camp was for me a nice way to get to know and spend time with some of the people I regularly train with but have little time to socialise with back home. For me this has been a positive experience which I am considering repeating.

Summer camp was great fun. It was nicely balanced between training and social events. I have enjoyed it very much and have certainly got a few ideas/tips from training to improve my kick boxing.
