Joining

Everybody is welcome in Carisma: sex, age (parents' written authorization is needed for minors), race, religion are totally unessential to us. People with previous martial arts experience are very welcome at all times; their experience is fully respected and appreciated.

Beginners are requested to join on specific dates and are required to follow a four lessons beginners' course; this allows them to learn the basic techniques required to begin training in the club. After the first free lesson, beginners will be charged a beginners's course fee as stated below. However if you have previous martial arts experience you can join at any time: please check our frequently asked questions page for more details.

Membership

At CARISMA do not charge any sign-up membership fee. Every student who is training with us and has paid his/her monthly fees is considered to be a member. We strongly encourage all members to participate to every event organised by the club.

Beginners' Courses

The next beginners course will start on 18 Sep 2008 to run for 4 consecutive Thursday and Tuesday lessons. As we are currently very close to a saturation point the above date could be the last beginners course we run for a while: if you are interested in joining please make sure to do so on that date. There is no need for booking, just turn up on the day and please make sure to be there before 6:15. Please check our uniform page and our frequently asked questions for more information.

Please notice: Newcomers should consider a minimum average committment of two lessons per week (e.g. 7-8 lessons per month): people that don't have the time or the will for such a commitment will not be accepted as new members. This is not meant to be a discriminatory statement but it reflects the basic principles of the club underlined in the club overview page.

Fees

The subscription fee allows members to train up to four times per week. If you are a full time student you can get a discounted fee (see concessions). We aim to have most of our members paying by standing order so we offer a big discount if you use that payment system. Alternatively, payments can be done by cash or cheques payable to CARISMA (see standard). It is possible, for advanced member only, to buy punch cards that entitle them to participate to a number of lesson for a set fee (please see below for details).
